Lovens Explorer 2 interior lighting: Lovens or CargoGLOW?

Are you looking for interior lighting for your Lovens Explorer 2? You will quickly come across two very different solutions: the small interior light from Lovens with a USB-C port and our CargoGLOW interior lighting.

Both bring light into the box – but in very different ways. The Lovens light creates a small point of light in the interior. CargoGLOW, on the other hand, distributes light via a 1-meter-long LED strip under the rain canopy. This allows you to see children, straps, and luggage over a larger area, and the illuminated interior is also much more noticeable from the outside in the dark.

And yes: Our CargoGLOW "Lovens" version fits the Explorer 2. We have confirmed the compatibility. The same version also fits the Explorer 1.

Lovens Explorer 2 interior lighting: What are the options?

With the Explorer 2, Lovens clearly separates the different lighting tasks. The front and rear lights handle standard bicycle lighting. There is an optional small interior light for the box. And for additional visibility from the outside, Lovens offers separate LED light strips.

What can the original Lovens interior lighting do?

Lovens offers an optional interior light with a USB-C port for the Explorer 2. The manufacturer describes it as atmospheric interior lighting. It is designed to help you find things in the box in the dark. At the same time, you get an additional USB-C port, for example, to charge your smartphone.

This is practical if you want a small point of light in the box. Extra light is certainly helpful when buckling up, getting in, or quickly looking for gloves and toys.

However, the light remains exactly that: a small, focused light source. It does not distribute light across the entire box or along the length of the rain canopy. If you want to illuminate the interior over a large area, that is a different requirement.

How does the Lovens interior light affect exterior visibility?

Only slightly. The small interior light is primarily intended to bring light into the box. Due to its limited illuminated surface, there is only a small amount of additional light visible from the outside.

Lovens makes this distinction clear itself: for increased visibility, the manufacturer offers a separate LED light strip or an LED light strip with turn signal function. These solutions are mounted on the outside of the bike and are explicitly marketed for increased visibility.

You should therefore not expect the same effect from the small interior light. It makes the box brighter in one spot – but it does not turn the rain canopy into a larger, visible illuminated surface.

What makes CargoGLOW different for the Lovens Explorer 2?

This is precisely where our CargoGLOW interior lighting comes in. We didn't develop it as a single lamp for one spot in the box, but as light covering a larger area under the rain canopy.

For the Lovens, CargoGLOW works with a 1-meter-long LED strip. A diffuser distributes the light evenly so that it does not glare. The light color is 4000 K. The strip is waterproof and is attached to the rain canopy frame using suitable clips.

We provide five matching clips for the Lovens. It is powered via a standard 5V power bank via USB. You therefore do not need to touch the bike's electrical system.

The difference from the small Lovens light is simple in everyday life: instead of a single point of light, you have light covering a significantly larger part of the box. You can see children, straps, and luggage better – and because a larger surface is illuminated under the rain canopy, this light is also much more noticeable from the outside in the dark.

If you primarily want a small point of light and the additional USB-C port, the Lovens light serves exactly this purpose. However, if you really want to see something under the rain canopy and at the same time create a larger visible illuminated area, CargoGLOW is designed for this use case.

And what about the exterior LED light strip?

The Lovens LED light strip and CargoGLOW fulfill different tasks and can therefore complement each other.

The Lovens light strip is mounted on the outside and is designed for additional visibility. CargoGLOW is mounted inside under the rain canopy. It ensures that you have a better view of the box. At the same time, the light shines through the rain canopy to the outside.

Important note: Interior lighting does not replace front or rear lights. The mandatory bicycle lighting must function independently.

Does CargoGLOW fit the Lovens Explorer 2?

Yes. We have confirmed the compatibility of our CargoGLOW "Lovens" version with the Explorer 2.

You do not need to look for a separate Explorer 2 version in our shop. Simply choose "Lovens". This version fits both the Explorer 2 and the Explorer 1.

This is particularly interesting for the Explorer 2, as you are not limited to the small Lovens interior light. If you want more light surface area under the rain canopy, you can also use CargoGLOW on the new Explorer.

CargoGLOW with or without a dimmer?

You can get our Lovens version with or without a dimmer.

Without a dimmer, the solution is straightforward: connect the power bank and turn on the light. This works well if you mainly use CargoGLOW when getting in, buckling up, searching, or loading and unloading.

With a dimmer and remote control, you can adjust the brightness. It can be brighter for buckling up, while you can dim the light while riding. The wireless remote control is included with this version.

Still riding a Lovens Explorer 1?

Then nothing changes for you: our "Lovens" version continues to fit the Explorer 1. The same set has now also been confirmed by us for the Explorer 2.

If you buy accessories directly from Lovens, you should still pay attention to the generation. Lovens lists many accessories separately for Explorer 1 and Explorer 2.

Which solution fits your everyday life?
